The 58th edition of the Europe Rally took place from June 6th to June 10th and was a big success. Around 300 campers from 15 European countries (Germany, Swiss, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Finland, France, Luxemburg, Great Britain, Holland, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia) participated in diverse day and night programs prepared especially for this occasion.
Since 1961 the Europe Rally has been held every year during the Whitsun holidays, each time in another country. The event is organized by the Europe Rally Committee and the by the camping association of the host country. This year the Croatian Camping Association organized the event with the support of the Tourist Board of the town Mali Lošinj and of the Tourist Board of the Kvarner Bay. The Europe Rally Committee is an association that gathers campers from all of Europe who are also members of the International Federation of Camping and Caravanning (F.I.C.C.).
The main event, that opened the 58th Europe Rally, was a tour of all participants through the center of the town Mali Lošinj. After the tour, the director of the Tourist Board of the town Mali Lošinj Dalibor Cvitković, the director of the firm Jadranka kampovi d.o.o. Dejan Jakovljević, the president of the Croatian Camping Association Branko Marolt and the president of the Europe Rally Kees Splint held welcoming speeches. Afterwards, the flag of the Europe Rally was raised, while playing the Ode to Joy, and the traditional torch was lit as a symbol of the opening of this year’s camping meeting.
The meeting lasted four days and guests could participate in a number of activities; boat trip to the islands of Susak and Ilovik, sightseeing in Mali Lošinj, visit to the Museum of Apoxyomenos, bus trip to the neighboring island of Cres and a tour of Osor, Cres und Valun. The participants also had the opportunity to plant pinetrees as part of the awarded project
Safe camping in the forest of Čikat. At the end of every evening we organized a dinner party and an amusement program at the Waterpark Čikat and, to top it all, also a gala dinner and a performance of the local folklore assemble.
Many participants came to the campsite even before the meeting, and decided to stay longer thanks to great weather, beautiful island nature and great organization work done by Jadranka kampovi d.o.o. and by the staff of the campsite Čikat.
We hope that this successful event is a great start for the season 2019, a season when we are also organizing the 20th Adria Rally from June 22nd to June 29th.
